Federal State Budget Scientific Institution “Federal Scientific Center of Agricultural Biotechnology of the Far East named after A.K. Chaiki” is one of the leading agrarian scientific research institutions in the Russian Far East.
Scientists of the Center conduct research on a wide range of topics in plant science (plant breeding, seed production, agronomy, plant protection), animal husbandry (beekeeping), natural resource management, the economy of agricultural industry, plant biotechnology.
The Center has been making a considerable contribution to the development of local agribusinesses.
The main research areas of the Center are:
– breeding of agricultural crops;
– seed production of different field, fodder, and vegetable crops, potato;
– creation of new varieties of agricultural crops using biotechnology methods;
– mechanization, economics and organization of agricultural production in agrobusinesses;
– development and improvement of efficient and sustainable technologies for the cultivation of agricultural crops;
– development of next generation farming systems;
– development of beekeeping industry in Primorsky kray;
– educational activities (educational programs for scientific and academic personnel (post-graduate studies: 4.1.1. General agriculture and crop production; 4.1.2. Plant breeding, seed production and biotechnology; 4.1.3. Agrochemistry, soil science, plant protection).
The Center employs 218 specialists, including one Doctor and twenty-seven Candidates of Science.
